We are delighted to announce the signing of Goalkeeper, Rob Lainton on a two-year deal.
Rob joins Vale following his departure from League One side Bury at the end of the previous season.
The 27 year-old began his career with Bolton Wanderers, where he came through the Youth system, learning his trade with the Trotters.
Lainton then made a permanent move to Bury where he became first choice for the Shakers, before suffering a injury which ruled him out for some time.
When the ‘keeper returned from his injury, he went on loan to Burton Albion where he would become pivotal to helping to guide the club to fourth place in League Two.
Rob then returned to Bury, where he reclaimed the number one spot for the majority of the 2014/15 campaign.
Lainton made 38 appearances during his time with the Bury, before his departure at the end of the 2016/17 season.
The ‘keeper will link up with his new team mates this Summer when they return for pre-season ahead of the Sky Bet League Two campaign.
Stay tuned to the club website and official social media channels to hear more from the goalkeeper over the coming days.
