Vale made their second summer signing today, as goalkeeper Rob Lainton put pen to paper on a two year deal at Vale Park.
Lainton will complete his move on the 1st of July when his deal with Bury comes to an end.
Following the completion of the deal, Rob couldn’t hold back his delight in getting the move over the line and signing for the Valiants.
He said: “It feels great to be honest with you, I’ve been speaking with the club for a couple of weeks now and I just can’t wait to get started.
“Now I’m here at Port Vale hoping to be here as long as I can and help the club go back up.
“I want to stamp down the number one shirt and hopefully I can do that.”
The 27 year-old learnt his trade with Bolton Wanderers, rising through the youth ranks, before completing a permanent move to Bury following loan spells.
Rob is now looking forward to get going at Vale and is aiming to help the club bounce back at the first time of asking to League One this season.
“Hopefully, as a club, we can bounce straight back up to League One and then hopefully we can push on again from there and go to the next step again.
“We want to get as many clean sheets as we can and keep a solid base and then with the clean sheets wins come and keep us up the top end of the table.”
