Local Schools To Attend Workshops Run By University
Port Vale will be hosting an Able and Talented Day as part of the club’s partnership with Staffordshire University this week.
Pupils from ten local primary schools will be attending workshops at Vale Park on Thursday and prizes will be presented to the most outstanding students.
The schools taking part are; Burnwood, Our Lady’s, Grove, Holden Lane, Mill Hill, New Ford, North Road, Oxhey, St. Nathaniels and Smallthorne.
The day is geared towards Year 5 pupils taking part in challenging and enjoyable activities which are being run by Staffordshire University’s departments of Sports Science, Archaeology, Computers and Forensic Science.

Local businesses KMF, Johnson Tiles, Staffordshire Creamware, British Ceramics Biennial and Haywood Hospital are also facilitating workshops for the students.
Chris Taylor, the club’s Head of Education, said: "The football club continues to work with our local schools by providing challenging activities, projects which raise achievement and facilities in the stadium for use by staff and students.
"We are especially pleased to continue our partnership with Staffordshire University staff and departments and to advertise their many courses on offer to local people.
"We are also extremely pleased to welcome local companies who are running inter-active workshops for the children who will be able to show their skills and ability during the day.”
Deb Sanderson, the University’s Head of Graduate and Business Relations, added: “Last year's event was a great success and a lot of the schools were keen to return this year.
The schoolchildren will be set a literacy project where they will write a report of their experience of the day and what they have learnt.
The best ones will be awarded a prize at a special ceremony which the University will host for both parents and pupils will be invited.”
