Tom Pope Has Successful Surgery On Injured Knee

Vale Forward Out For Around Three Months

Port Vale striker Tom Pope will be out of action for around three months following successful surgery on his knee this morning.

The 29-year-old injured his lateral collateral ligament during the Valiants’ 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe United in Sky Bet League One last week.

Vale’s top scorer was then referred to a specialist who decided that he required an operation to fix the problem.

Speaking to Port-Vale.co.uk, the club’s head physiotherapist James Rowland explained the plan for Pope’s recovery.

“I am pleased to say that I have spoken to Tom [Pope] and the specialist today,” he said.

“The surgery went to plan and we expect him to have made a full recovery in three months.

"Tom will now go through a period of immobilization to protect the injury site and we will progress his rehabilitation accordingly.

“Overall, he is in good spirits and knows that he will have to work hard to meet his targets over the coming weeks.”
