Port Vale Academy are delighted to report on the success of their recent Recruitment Day, which was held during the School Easter holidays.
The event enabled over 90 grassroots players, in the five age groups from under 8 to under 12, to be put through their paces by the Academy coaches in a variety of training exercises.
Academy FDP Lead Coach Lee Foyle summed up the event: “Despite the very poor weather on the day, there was a great turnout and we were really impressed with the skill and general standard of play on show.”
As a result, three of the players were offered a trial period with the Academy and a further ten were selected to attend training at the Vale Elite Development Centre. Those that were not so successful have been invited to sessions organised by the Vale Foundation on a Monday and Saturday.
“Overall it was a very successful day and something that we will look to repeat in due course” added Lee. “It’s always possible through events like this, that we might just discover a star of the future.”
