Players & Coaches Visit Children’s Ward At Royal Stoke University Hospital

First Team Squad Spread Some Christmas Cheer

Port Vale’s players and coaches visited Royal Stoke University Hospital’s children’s ward on Monday afternoon to spread some festive cheer.

Rob Page, Mark Grew, Dean Glover and the majority of the first team squad were present to hand out gifts to the kids.

The visit, made just three days before Christmas, was organised after contact was made between the club and the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

Speaking about the time spent on the ward, Vale boss Page said: “I think to bring the players down, for whatever reasons the children find themselves in hospital, it's never a pleasant time for them.

"If it means we can hopefully play a part in putting a smile on their faces and the parents' as well then that's what it's all about."

Coach Dean Glover added: “It’s a privilege for us really. Most times you take things for granted.

“It’s heartbreaking sometimes when you see some of these parents who are actually sitting around beds with the kids and it just brings it home a little bit to be honest.”
