Port Vale can confirm former Newcastle United goalkeeper Jak Alnwick has agreed to join the club on a short-term deal.
The 22-year-old arrived at Vale Park on Thursday morning and then joined his new teammates for training.
Alnwick has Premier League experience having made six appearances for the Magpies in the top flight last season. He has also spent time on loan at Gateshead and Bradford City.
A former England youth international, the shot-stopper will become manager Rob Page’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window.
He could be in line to make his debut for the club in this weekend’s Sky Bet League One opener against Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road.
Vale boss Page told port-vale.co.uk: “In the absence of Chris Neal through injury we felt it was important to bolster our goalkeeping ranks.
“Jak is a very talented player who has experience at the highest level with Newcastle United and he’s also had a taste of League One with Bradford.
“We’re very pleased to have him on board and the players and coaches are all looking forward to working with him.”
