Dodds wants to prove himself in League One
Port Vale’s Louis Dodds believes the time is right for him to step up and prove himself after the attacker signed a new two-year deal with the club.
Dodds along with Chris Birchall, Sam Johnson and Tom Morris have signed new contracts and Dodds believes Vale is well equipped to deal with the challenges of League One next season.
Dodds said: “It’s a club that since I have joined I have been delighted to play for, I think the fans like me and I like them so hopefully it is going to be another good two years.
“I have been playing League Two for pretty much the majority of my career now so it’s now the time that I need to step up and prove myself.”
It will be the first time Dodds will have played in League One and the creative-attacker is confident Vale can mix it up and play both the physical and technical game they’re capable of.
“I think how we have done it has been a slow progression but we have got there and hopefully it is a building block and the foundation for the future,” said Dodds.
“From speaking to some of my friends who have played in League One I think there is a lot more footballing teams rather than League Two which is a lot scruffier and more of a fighting game rather than a passing game.
“I think we are good enough to go both ways, we can pass it out and we can rough it up so I think we are quite equipped for it and I think everyone is raring to go already.
“Hopefully I can get a bit more space in League One and lots more things will happen.”
