Defender departs Vale
Central defender John McCombe has left Port Vale Football Club by mutual consent.
The defender leaves Vale having made 206 appearances for the Valiants since joining the club in May 2008 from Hereford.
The former Huddersfield trainee made 37 appearances for Vale last season as he helped the club clinch promotion to League One. McCombe scored his only goal of the season back in August in the 3-1 away victory over Morecambe.
Manager, Micky Adams said: "John has been a model professional during his five years with Port Vale and it is with reluctance that we let him go.
"John leaves us on a high after helping us achieve promotion last season.
"He will be missed not only on the pitch but also in the changing room, where he has been a pivotal part of the squad. I am certain that all Port Vale fans will join me in wishing him well."
Everyone at Port Vale would like to wish John all the very best for the future.
