Port Vale can officially confirm midfielder Chris Birchall has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
The 31-year-old, who originally came through the youth ranks at Vale Park, put pen to paper on his new deal on Thursday morning.
A former Trinidad & Tobago international, Birchall made 30 appearances for the Valiants last season and scored three goals in Sky Bet League One.
The winger left Vale to join Coventry City in 2006, spent a short time at Brighton & Hove Albion and then went to the MLS.
He played alongside Manchester United and Real Madrid legend David Beckham at LA Galaxy before joining Columbus Crew for a year. Birchall rejoined Vale in 2013.
Manager Rob Page said: “We’re pleased that Chris has signed a new contract.
“He’s a local lad who knows what Port Vale Football Club is all about and he is an extremely hard working player as well, both going forward and defensively.”
