The Shrews were promoted from Sky Bet League Two last season under Micky Mellon after finishing second in the table behind champions Burton Albion.
Vale last went to Shrewsbury in 2014, drawing 0-0 at Greenhous Meadow. The club’s last win at the ground was in 2009 with John McCombe scoring the decisive goal.
