Goals from James Plant and Tom Sang helped to secure victory at Kidsgrove
The first real chance of the game fell to the Valiants on eight minutes when Ethan Chislett pikced the ball up in Kidsgrove's half and played in Tom Sang to have an effort but he just dragged his shot wide of the post.
Three minutes later Baylee Dipepa was fed through one-on-one but his attempt at goal was well saved.
On 29 minutes the Valiants came close to taking a deserved lead through Liam Brazier. He cut in from the right and tried a low strike towards the near post but it was well kept out by the Kidsgrove keeper.
Eight minutes later we got the breakthrough with a set piece routine. Conor Grant's corner was drilled low to the front post where James Plant was waiting to smash home the opener.
The hosts had their first chance of the afternoon on 42 minutes with a header from inside the area following a ball in from the left. But brilliant reflexes from Jayson Leutwiler, who got down quickly to his right, prevented Kidsgrove from getting a quick equaliser.
The Valiants got their second on the hour mark from the penalty spot. Sang flew past the Kidsgrove defence but as he entered the area the midfielder was clipped from behind and the Valiants were awarded a spot kick. Sang dusted himself off and sent the keeper the wrong way to double our advantage.
