Gary Bowyer’s first taste in management came when he took over as caretaker manager of Blackburn Rovers in 2012. A few months later he became caretaker manager again after Michael Appleton’s sacking and got the job until the end of the season and got the permanent manager until the end of the season. He was sacked in 2015 and went on to manage Blackpool and Bradford before joining Salford.

Ashley Eastham began his youth career at Blackpool where he made just one professional appearance, going out on loan to Hyde United, Cheltenham Town, Carlisle United, Bury, Fleetwood Town and Notts County. He signed permanently for Rochdale in 2013 and then Fleetwood in 2016 before joining Salford in 2020.

The centre-half has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season scoring two goals. The goals came against Northampton Town and Walsall. Eastham has been injured since early February in a match away to Sutton United.

Star Man

Matt Smith spent his youth career at Cheltenham Town but was released as an 18-year-old in 2007 and went into non-league. Smith went to university and played alongside his studies before returning to the EFL after his final year. He joined Oldham Athletic in 2011 and went on to play for Macclesfield Town, Leeds United, Fulham, Bristol City, Queens Park Rangers and Millwall.

Having joined Salford in January the striker has made 14 league appearances for the Ammies, scoring four goals and grabbing one assist. His last goal came in a 2-1 win over Walsall in late March.

Top Scorer

The Ammies’ top scorer is Brandon Thomas-Asante with 12 goals in all competitions. 10 in the league and two in the Papa John’s Trophy. His most notable game was at home to Scunthorpe when he scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 win for Salford.

Last time out and recent form

In their last five games, Salford have won four and drawn one. The draw came away to Rochdale but they were victorious over Scunthorpe United, Walsall and Crawley Town. Last Saturday they travelled to Hartlepool.

Corrie Ndaba opened the scoring for the Ammies on 19 minutes before Jason Lowe doubled the lead nine minutes later. A quiet second half but Salford could not care less as they stretched their winning run to four games.
