Joe Davis says that Port Vale are aware of the threat Luton Town carry, but is hopeful that his side can salvage a result against the League Two leaders.
Only Manchester City have scored more goals than The Hatters this season who are unbeaten since October as they make the long journey to Burslem on Saturday.
With the team playing well, Davis says that he has no fear about coming up against Nathan Jones’ men and is looking forward to the challenge.
He said: “We know that they are a good side from when we played them away from home.
“If you look at their results, they have scoring a lot of goals. It will be a challenge for us, but there is no reason why we can’t keep picking up results.
“We have a lot of confidence and have done well against some of the in-form sides.
“There’s no reason we can’t do it against Luton.”
The 24-year old believes that the two next games are vital for The Valiants as it could set up an all-important run until the end of the season.
He added: “It sets us up nicely for a run until the end of the season.
“Everyone says how fast it goes after Christmas, so if we get through that period with your heads held high – we have a good chance of finishing the season well.”
With Davis being out for the last two months, he has been filling in at right-back where he has heavily impressed in his last two games. Joe says that it is now up to him to make that position his own as James Gibbons looks set to return in the coming weeks.
“The manager has said that it’s up to me to keep my place”, he added.
“I think I’ve given myself the best opportunity over the last couple of games. It’s been challenging as I was out with an eight-week injury and I only trained twice before the Colchester game.
“Physically it’s been demanding, but if we keep getting results I hope that I can keep my spot and have an extended run in the team.”
