League One Round-Up

League One Round-Up

The play-off places are currently occupied by Bury, Sheffield United, Northampton Town and Port Vale.

After the 11th round of games in this seasons League One campaign, Scunthorpe United sit three points clear of second placed Bradford City, who in turn are a ahead of the play-off places by one point.

Scunthorpe opened up ground on Bury over the weekend thanks to Josh Morris’ stunning 11th goal of the season, as he curled in a free kick from 25-yards to regain the Iron’s lead, which they held on to until the final whistle.

Bradford capitalised on Bury’s loss as Billy Clarke’s fourth of the season was enough to claim the points on the road against Chesterfield.

Sheffield United extended their unbeaten run to seven as Ethan Ebanks-Landell rescued a point for the Blades with virtually the last kick of the game, after September’s Sky Bet League One Player of the Month nominee David Ball gave Fleetwood the lead.

Despite their defeats, Northampton Town and Port Vale accommodate the remaining two play-off places. Rob Page’s cobbler’s fell to a 2-3 home defeat to Bristol Rovers, whilst his previous employers lost their 100% home record at the hands of the visiting Coventry City, who subsequently moved off the foot of the table.

Bolton Wanderers’ poor form continues after their blistering start. Now winless in seven after falling to a 0-2 home defeat to the traveling Oxford United.

Ben Reeves and Kieran Agard earned MK Dons their fourth away win of the season, after beating Oldham 0-2. Oldham now occupy the bottom place in the league standings.

Rochdale earned their fourth consecutive league win with an away victory at Charlton Athletic thanks to Calvin Andrew’s headed goal.

Gillingham’s inconsistency remains after Wimbledon’s Dominic Poleon and Dean Parrett condemned them to defeat within the first half. Rory Donnelly furthered the Gills’ woes after seeing red minutes before the final whistle for gesturing towards the home fans.

Marcus Maddison’s injury time equaliser earned Peterborough United a draw away at Southend United, after Anthony Wordsworth struck 12 minutes from time, after missing a penalty earlier in the game.

Walsall climbed out of the relegation zone after beating Millwall 2-1, who have now lost their last four, and Shrewsbury and Swindon fought out a 1-1 draw at New Meadow.

Occupying the relegation zone for the time being are Southend united, Shrewsbury Town, Coventry City and Oldham Athletic.
