Grant Wins Supporters’ Club Player Of The Year

Port Vale midfielder Anthony Grant was presented with the Supporters’ Club Player of the Year award prior Sunday’s clash with Walsall.

Supporters’ Club chairman Ally Simcock handed over the trophy to the 28-year-old, who has been a revelation in his first season in Burslem.

Grant, who missed the loss to the Saddlers through suspension, made 45 appearances for the Valiants during the 2015/16 campaign, scoring twice.

He made the switch to Vale Park from local rivals Crewe Alexandra last summer and has made a terrific impression in his first season.

Grant came in first place in the poll for the Supporters’ Club gong with 40% of the votes. Louis Dodds finished in second place with 26% and Jak Alnwick was third with 9%.

"I'm proud and honoured to have received this award," Grant told port-vale.co.uk. "To be recognised by the fans is always very special and it was great to pick up the trophy before Sunday's match.

"I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me and thank all of the fans for their great support this season."

“This year's winner, Anthony Grant, was chosen due to his consistency,” Ally Simcock added. “His form has been solid as a holding midfielder and he was a clear winner over all.

“This award is voted for by supporters and the Supporters' Club were honoured to present it alongside Frankie Allen.”
