Bruno Ribeiro - Post Birmingham

Bruno Ribeiro - Post Birmingham

Have a read of what the manager had to say after the final whistle.

Last night, Port Vale entertained Birmingham City, in the last midweek friendly before the start of the new season.

Despite showing more positive signs ahead of the 6th of August, Vale fell to a 2-0 defeat, with both goals coming in the final 20 minutes.

In what was a feisty encounter, Birmingham gave Vale a different sort of game then what they had previously experienced in recent matches.

Manager Bruno Ribeiro, was happy with his sides performance and with the 4-3-3 formation he started the game with.

However, following the changes made to revert to the 4-4-2, Ribeiro believes the mistakes made were what cost his side.

He said: “For sixty minutes we controlled the game. Sometimes we played back to many times, we need to play more forward but we controlled the game playing the 4-3-3.

“But then after I changed things up and wanted to take a look at the 4-4-2, we made some mistakes, but we are still learning and its good for us to see.

“I say before, the result isn’t important for us, it was a good test, because they are a strong and hard team.

“We played good organised football for sixty minutes, but then after we change things, we’re not happy but were still working.

“I’m happy with the 4-3-3 because it is more solid and for sixty minutes Birmingham did not have one chance and I’m happy.”
