Page: ‘A Bitter Pill To Swallow’

Port Vale manager Rob Page said his side's draw with Bradford City felt like a loss and that it was a bitter pill to swallow.

The Valiants had taken an early lead through Ajay Leitch-Smith as the striker finished emphatically into the bottom corner from Anthony Grant’s through ball.

But Jamie Proctor equalised for the ten-man Bantams to earn the visitors a point, despite Vale’s dominance.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD following the game, Page’s frustration was clear to see.

“It feels like a defeat if I’m honest,” he said. “It’s always hard to play against ten men, especially when they shut up shop and that’s what they did.

“I watched them against Bury in midweek and Bury did exactly the same as what Bradford did, made it really hard, and Bury went on to win the game.

“So they were very solid in their shape, two banks of four camped on the edge of the box and trying to catch us on the break and that’s where the goal comes from.”
