Chairman: ‘Concourse Catering Brought Back In House’

Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite has confirmed the stadium’s concourse catering has been brought back 'in house'.

UK Catering Events Ltd had been the previous caterers but a decision has been made to end their contract one year early.

The brand new ‘Vale Deli’ will have a varied menu – which will be printed in the official match day programme - including a terrific selection of alcoholic beverages for supporters to enjoy.

The club will be setting up an email address that will allow fans to send in their suggestions regarding the new initiative.

Norman Smurthwaite told port-vale.co.uk: “We want to improve every area of the club we can and we feel this is a real opportunity to do that.

“We’re looking forward to hearing sensible suggestions from fans as ultimately they are the primary consumers on match days.”

The club will also be implementing a pre-pay option for supporters, which will be trialed at the Notts County friendly on Tuesday evening.

Fans will be able to purchase £5 food and drink vouchers at the ticket office, club shop or turnstiles* and redeem them at the kiosks located on the concourse.

“We have seen pre-pay options work very well at other clubs,” the chairman added. “It’s something I think the supporters will find very convenient.

“This is another initiative that will help make things more affordable both for fans and the club as it allows us to properly gauge the amount of stock needed for each game.”

*Fans must provide the correct change if purchasing a food and drink voucher at the turnstiles.
