Rob Page: “We Can’t Accept Performances Like That”

Manager Speaks To Valiant Player Following Chesterfield Loss

  • Vale were beaten 3-0 by the Spireites at the Proact on Saturday
  • Page does not think his side's performance was good enough
  • The manager is now focussed on putting things right next weekend

Port Vale boss Rob Page admitted his players did not reach the high standards they have set over the last few months in Saturday’s loss to Chesterfield.

Goals from Armand Gnanduillet and Charlie Raglan as well as an Eoin Doyle penalty sunk the Valiants at the Proact Stadium as Paul Cook’s men ran out 3-0 winners.

Over one thousand Vale fans were in attendance at the game and continued singing for the entire 90 minutes, despite the disappointing result.

Speaking to Valiant Player following the loss, Page insisted he and his staff will do all in their power to put things right next week.

“I think the level of performance we have shown of late, we fell short of that today, individually and collectively as a team and we can’t accept performances like that,” he said.

“They haven’t had to work too hard for their goals, it’s a free header eight yards out, he’s six-foot-four, there’s only one outcome when you get a header like that, a penalty and a set piece, a corner.

“We’ll address it and we’ll move on, we’ll work hard on Monday and we’ll put it right for next week.”
