.Carl Dickinson admitted it was disappointing not to be able to give the Port Vale fans something to cheer about against Chesterfield on Saturday

Over one thousand Vale supporters travelled to the Proact Stadium and they kept on singing and encouraging the players right up until the final whistle.

Valiants boss Rob Page praised them for their excellent support following the match and Dickinson did the same.

Speaking to Valiant Player, the 27-year-old defender was clearly frustrated with the performance against the Spireites but couldn’t fault the club’s fantastic fans.

“They’ve been brilliant. They’ve been brilliant since the start of the season,” he said.

“They pay their hard earned money to come and watch us, especially for away games it’s not cheap, so it’s disappointing the fact we couldn’t give them something to cheer about.”
