Midfielder says team must do a professional job
Any thoughts of complacency ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle were swept aside by midfielder Chris Shuker ahead of the game.
Argyle come to Vale Park in a run of form which has seen them win three out their last four games and they are unbeaten in four.
Plymouth boss John Sheridan will have his players fired up for the game and Micky Adams will instil the need to do a professional job to into his players.
Vale have proved in the past that being the so called underdogs doesn’t necessarily mean a thing, and the FA Cup has proved enough ‘shocks’ in the past for everyone to be on their toes.
Shuker said: “If we were going to a Championship side we wouldn’t expect that team to win just because they were a league above us.
“If we were a League Two side going to a League One side we would think we have got every chance, like we did last year at Sheffield United, we nearly nicked it and they won it in the last few seconds.
“The lads will have to have the same mental attitude as we did at Preston the other day and do the job against them.
“The lads want to get as far as they can. The old cliché is you are never going to win it, but it is good to go as far as you can.”
