Grimmer on the mend and could even be ready for Saturday
Vale boss Micky Adams surprised the local media at his press conference today when he told them Jack Grimmer, who was stretchered off against Crewe on Saturday might be available for the match against Wolves on Saturday.
It was at first fears he may be out long term after it was discovered to be problems with his ligaments, but he has responded well to treatment.
Richard Duffy played for the reserves against Wrexham on Wednesday and he could well slot into the back four if Grimmer fails to make it in time.
Adams said: Richard Duffy played a full ninety minutes on Wednesday and he is fit and available.
“The only absentees will be Rob Taylor, Liam Chilvers, who will have a minor operation on his groin on Thursday night, so he will miss out, and the only other one is Anthony Griffith with his hip injury.
“Jack Grimmer has come through a training session and we will assess him on Friday and Saturday.
“Griff is definitely out, he’s been struggling for a while with his hip and the games have caught up with him, so he needs a bit of time, a bit of care and attention from the Physio and we will get him back as soon as we can.”.
