Assistant boss warns Vale are in for a tough game on Saturday
Vale are expecting another tough battle on Saturday afternoon when Swindon Town Are the visitors to Vale Park and Assistant manager Mark Grew says it would be nice to put things right following Vale’s defeat at the County Ground earlier this season.
The Robins were amongst the promotion favourites at the start of the season and they have slipped up a little, but still have the play-offs firmly in their sights.
Grew says: “They thought they would be up in the top seven and I must admit I thought they would be there or thereabout, so it is important now that we get the three points and stop them in their stride a little bit.
“They will be stinging after their defeat on Saturday. We had them watched and they got beat so they will be coming here determined to put that right.
“They have lost three points and so they will be trying to get them back here.
“They caught us at their place earlier this season and it wasn’t a nice experience so it would be nice to put one over on them.”
One player who Grew greatly admires after seeing him on the training pitch and during a cameo role during Vale’s defeat to Gillingham is on-loan Billy Knott
Grew said: “He came on at Gillingham and he played a part in us getting on top of the game late on and he has done himself no harm in earning a place on Saturday.
“He is excellent n the ball and he plays really good balls into strikers’ feet and on set-pieces he can knock a great ball into the box and I am looking forward to Billy starting a game.”
