Defender Talks To Valiant Player After Loss
- Full back thinks performance against Swindon was good
- Yates happy with how 2014 went as a whole
- Hoping now to push on in the New Year
Adam Yates believes Port Vale gave a good account of themselves against Swindon Town despite their 1-0 loss at the County Ground.
Following back-to-back wins over Crawley and Sheffield United respectively, the Valiants went into Sunday’s game against the Robins full of confidence and put in a good performance.
However, a second-half header by Andy Williams was enough to separate the sides at full-time, meaning Vale were forced to head home empty-handed.
Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player after the game, Yates admitted the players felt as if they should have taken a point from Mark Cooper’s men.
“I think we played well for a period of time. They were always going to have a lot of possession with the way they set up and some of the players they’ve got,” he said.
“But we defended well, we rode our luck a little bit in the first half, we had a couple of chances, then second-half they’ve scored a goal but I think we’ve given a good account of ourselves.
“A lot of good teams have been here and been bossed but we’ve played well, had a right go and I think from the last three games six points isn’t a bad turnaround.”
