Boss Speaks To Valiant Player After Loss
- Manager disappointed with loss but not performance
- Vale could have come away with a point
- Page thinks that shows the progression his side has made
Rob Page believes the fact Port Vale were disappointed to come away empty handed from Swindon Town is evidence of how far his side have come.
A lone Andy Williams goal meant the hosts got all three points but the Valiants stood toe-to-toe with their high-flying opponents every step of the way.
Adam Yates almost capped off an excellent counter attack with a well-taken volley that was saved by Wes Foderingham deep into the second-half but it wasn’t to be Vale’s day.
Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player following the loss, Page admitted he was proud of his players for their display.
“I’ve said to the boys that I’m proud of their level of performance having come off the back of a tough game in Sheffield United on Boxing Day under extreme conditions,” he said.
“Arguably [we’ve played] two of the better teams that are going to be pushing for promotion and to get three points against Sheffield United and come here and be disappointed really that we haven’t come away with a point at least.
“It goes to show how far we’ve come and, if you’re going to lose a game of football, lose it in that manner.”
