Micky confident we can get back to winning ways

Micky Adams admits some of his players are lacking confidence at the moment but he is confeident they can overcome it and finish off the season on a high.

The Vale boss said: “I was pleased with the first half performance. I thought we did everything we should do. We turned them around, squeezed up and limited them to very few chances.

“We gifted them a goal with Darren's mistake, but then got back into it with a great goal from Lofty and I was very pleased at half time. We wanted a high tempo game in the second half and didn't get it

“We sat back and invited pressure, had a couple of half chances and got done with a goal that was avoidable.

“We had a few half chances, including the one that hit the bar, but we didn't do enough in the second half to win the game.

“Service into the front men was poor, and I can’t remember a cross going into their box. All the things that have got us results up until recently, we're not doing at the moment.

“We're left scratching our heads somewhat because I don't recognise some of the players at the moment.

“I can’t keep defending them and there’s no denying some of them are playing without confidence.

“We'll come through the back of this. We're in the eye of the storm at the moment and it’s very difficult

“But we've shown enough quality this season for me to suggest we will come through it and we will come through it - we'll be better for it.

“At this moment we’re getting a few slaps on the backside, but we've got to stand up and be counted and I’m sure we will.”
