DEFENDER READY FOR CHELTENHAM GAME

DEFENDER READY FOR CHELTENHAM GAME

Duffy says he will now be looking ahead to Saturday

Defender Richard Duffy says he will forget all about Saturday’s defeat at home to Chesterfield and concentrate on putting things right at Cheltenham this weekend.

The Welshman is keen to show the supporters that Saturday was a mere blip in Vale’s form and that their impressive away record will hold up against the team in third spot.

He said: “After the defeat to Chesterfield on Saturday we know we have to work hard in training this week to put things right.

“Obviously everybody was a bit down after Saturday, but we have got to pick ourselves up. We are still second in the division so it’s not all doom and gloom.

“We lost a game and we were probably not at our best, but we know we have to start again in training and put things right ready for the trip to Cheltenham on Saturday.

“We had a double session yesterday and were due to do the same today but the weather has prevented us from preparing this morning and instead we are training away from the club this afternoon.

“Everybody is different, but there is no point in looking back. Some people dwell on it a little bit and some people move on quickly. I try and move on quickly.

“Whether we ha d won the game or lost the game on Saturday you have got to look forward to the next game and put the things you didn’t so right on Saturday right on the following Saturday.

“We won two league games then lost two cup games and then lost again on Saturday, so we won two and then lost three in a row, but it’s no big deal, we are still second and we are nearly half way through the season.

“We didn’t perform very well on Saturday, that was clear to see and we have got to put it right again. It will be second versus third and so it won’t take much to motivate us for that game. If we win the game we will stay in second place so it is a good incentive for us.
