Darren Moore has been named as Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for October, claiming his second award in as many months.
Moore led Vale to the top of League Two with 16 points from six unbeaten games. It was their togetherness and collective will which stood out as much as their cohesive football in 1-0 away wins at promotion rivals Notts County and MK Dons.
Speaking of winning the award, Darren Moore said:
“I’m really, really pleased to have won the award again for a second consecutive month. It shows consistency with myself, the first team staff, the group and the club as a whole.
“I get to talk about the award against my name, but what I can highlight is the hard work of the staff behind the scenes that make it all possible. I am so happy for us all to have won this award for the second time in as many months.”
Danny Wilson, chair of the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said:
“Vale carried on where they left off in September with a terrific sequence of results in October. 16 well-earned points from their 6 games solidified Darren and his players top position at the head of League Two."
Sky Sports’ EFL pundit, Don Goodman, said:
“Port Vale look like the team to beat in League Two at the moment after crucial wins over their promotion rivals in October. Title charges are built on strong defences and Darren Moore’s side look difficult to beat this season, they won 1-0 on three occasions in a month that saw them pick up 13 points from a possible 15.”
The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
