James Wilson Signs Contract Extension

Port Vale Football Club are delighted to announce that James Wilson has signed a contract extension with the club.

The extended deal will see the striker remain with the Valiants for at least the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

Wilson, 28, has already been on target for Andy Crosby’s side a number of times this season, including important goals against Carlisle United, Charlton Athletic and, most recently, netting the equaliser on the road against Wycombe Wanderers, upon his return to the side.

Speaking of Wilson’s new deal, Port Vale Manager Andy Crosby said:

“I am absolutely delighted that James has extended his contract with the club.

“With the unfortunate impact injury that was suffered against Newcastle United’s U21s aside, James has maximised both his training and game availability as much as possible, which was the main challenge given to him upon re-signing with the club in the summer.

“James has undoubtable qualities both on and off the pitch and he absolutely embodies every characteristic that we look for here at Port Vale FC. We all look forward to working with him for the rest of the season at the very least.”

Port Vale FC's Director of Football, David Flitcroft, added:

"As a club, we are delighted to announce that James Wilson has signed his contract extension.

“James has earned this extension due to his work ethic on and off the pitch. His drive to maximise his availability before his unfortunate injury is exactly what we wanted to see from him and his work and dedication to his recovery behind the scenes was outstanding.

“We have missed James’ quality and game intelligence and it’s great to have him back in the team and settled.

“I would like to thank his agent for making the deal happen and we look forward to seeing what James can produce for the club in the second half of the season.”
