Vale 'keeper goes out on loan

Calum Ferrie joins Gresley Rovers for a month

Vale Youth ’keeper Calum Ferrie has joined Gresley Rovers on a month’s loan and is looking forward to the chance of playing first team football.

Excited at the prospect of playing in men’s football, Calum said: “It is a crucial year for me. I am coming up to the point where it decided whether or not I get a pro contract and it will be a great experience.

“It will be an experience just getting used to the physicality of it all. It is a lot different to youth team football and I am really looking forward to it.”

The Vale ‘keeper is hoping to go straight into the team for FA Trophy tie this weekend as the Moatmen make the short trip to take on Matlock in the third qualifying round.

Ferrie continued: “I just want to be able to play as much football as possible really, to get out and see how different teams play at different levels and to get used to it and hopefully come back a better ‘keeper.”
