Alnwick: ‘It Shows A Lot Of Character’

Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick believes the Port Vale players have shown a lot of character to come through a tough week with three wins.

The Valiants capped off a period of three games in six days with a victory over Blackpool at Vale Park thanks to goals from Ajay Leitch-Smith and Chris Birchall.

Over the course of those six days Vale have conceded three goals and scored eight on their way to triumphs over Maidenhead United and Chesterfield as well as the Seasiders.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD, Alnwick said it shows how much fight there is in the dressing room.

“It shows a lot of character,” he commented. “I think there were a few lads running on empty at the end there but I just think it showed them pushing through it.

“We get two late goals after a hard week it just shows the fight we’ve got in us.

“John [Harbin] was saying it in the dressing room, you could tell that the lads were grinding through the game.

“We’re going to have to do that at times this season because the games come quick and fast but it was brilliant we did it to the very end.”
