Nathan Smith Signs Two-Year Contract

Defender Nathan Smith has signed a new two-year contract with Port Vale.

The 19-year-old follows fellow youth team graduate Sam Johnson in signing a new deal after the goalkeeper put pen to paper yesterday at Vale Park.

Smith is yet to make a senior appearance for the Valiants since penning his first professional forms around twelve months ago.

But the young centre back spent a successful period on loan at Stafford Rangers last season, which culminated with Neil Kitching’s side winning the Staffordshire Senior Cup.

Manager Rob Page is pleased to have kept Smith and is looking forward to developing him further.

“Nathan is an extremely talented defender and his time out on loan last season proved he is comfortable with competing against senior players,” the Vale boss said.

“He has a lot of potential and is someone we’re excited about developing having come from the club’s academy through to the seniors.”
