Nathan Smith Sets Sights On First Team Place

Port Vale defender Nathan Smith has his eyes firmly fixed on earning a place in the first team next season after signing a new contract at the club.

The 19-year-old put pen to paper on a brand new one-year deal with the Valiants on Tuesday afternoon.

Fresh from a successful loan spell with Stafford Rangers, during which he picked up a Staffordshire Senior Cup winners’ medal, the youngster is looking forward to the new campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player, the centre back expressed his delight at penning the contract and discussed his targets.

“My long term aim, obviously, is to get into the first team and just wait for that opportunity and hopefully I will take it with both hands and prove my worth,” he said.
