Rob Page Pleased With Home Form

Manager Speaks To Valiant Player After Posh Win

  • Chris Birchall and Ben Williamson scored to sink Peterborough
  • Vale have now won five of last six league games at Vale Park
  • Page was delighted with the reaction and application of his players

Rob Page expressed his delight at Port Vale’s current home form following his side’s 2-1 win over Peterborough United.

The 40-year-old had demanded a reaction from his players following last weekend’s loss at Chesterfield and goals by Chris Birchall and Ben Williamson ensured Vale obliged.

The result means the Valiants have now won five of their last six Sky Bet League One games at Vale Park and made sure they moved up one place in the table.

Speaking to Valiant Player following the victory over Darren Ferguson’s outfit, Page admitted his side found it difficult to break Posh down at first but got rewarded for their patience.

“It’s a great habit to be in,” he said. “Against a good Peterborough outfit, alright they’re having a tough time at the minute but they’ve got enough quality to hurt teams.

“We respected that fact that they come and made it hard to be beaten. We struggled in the first half to get any quality into Willo and Doddsy was struggling to find that bit of space he normally finds because of the way they set up so we addressed it at half time.

“But thankfully, our home form, five out of six, that has set us up nicely.”
