Tom Pope gave the Valiants a first half lead before Chigozie Ugwu equalised for the hosts with less than ten minutes remaining.
But Vale showed great character to carve out a winner from a Michael O’Connor free kick, with the crucial touch coming off Michael Brown.
Speaking to Valiant Player after the game, 40-year-old Page expressed pride at his side’s performance and togetherness at Huish Park.
“We’ve had a difficult couple of months to say the least and it’s important that we’ve all stuck together,” he said.
“The supporters have, rightly so, questioned us, myself and the players, over the last couple of weeks and rightly so.
“We’re somewhere near the bottom of the league fighting a relegation battle and we feel we shouldn’t be.
“A month or five or six weeks ago we were just outside the play-offs so it’s been a frustrating time for all of us but thankfully we’ve all come good.
“Like true Vale supporters we stick together like they did today, they were brilliant today again at the end and we’ve got the points we needed.”
