Tom Pope’s opener and Michael Brown’s deflected strike meant the Valiants were a goal to the good heading into stoppage time at Huish Park.
In the final seconds the ball fell to Chigozie Ugwu just a few yards out but Neal stood strong to turn the striker’s resulting shot onto the post.
Speaking to Valiant Player, the 29-year-old shot-stopper said it was a huge moment not just for the match but for Vale’s season as a whole.
“The ball just got played straight into the box and knocked down and I’ve just come out and spread myself,” he explained.
“I don’t know whether it’s the save of the season but important wise it probably is so to make that in the 94th minute I’m absolutely buzzing with that.”
