Chris Neal Excited At Preston North End Return With Port Vale

Vale Keeper Talks Lilywhites Clash

Port Vale goalkeeper Chris Neal is looking forward to facing former club Preston North End on Tuesday night and is determined to put on a good display against them.

The Valiants head to Deepdale to take on Simon Grayson’s side in the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, kick-off 7.45pm.

Neal, who made a string of impressive saves against Fleetwood Town on Saturday, came through Preston’s academy and made one appearance for the club's first team.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player, the 28-year-old shot-stopper discussed his time with the Lilywhites as well as Vale’s hopes for getting through to the next round of the competition.

“When you spend as much time as I did there, coming through the youth team and having a couple of years as a pro, you always have a little tie to the club,” he said.

“So to go back and see the people I kind of started my career with will be nice. There’s not too many now but there are a few members of staff that will be nice to catch up with.”
