Defender says Vale can cap it off with a win on Saturday
Defender Chris Robertson says he is quite happy with the season he has had since joining the Vale from Preston North End in the summer.
Although he hasn’t always been an automatic choice, being forced to sit games out on occasions, he says it is all about how you respond to being left out.
He said: “I think I have had a fairly decent season. I probably could have been a bit more consistent during one period, but everybody goes through those periods during a season.
“It is how you come back from that and how you perform and get better and learn from what you have done wrong and improve.
“I am very pleased with the goals I have scored this year, but I should have had a lot more. There are a couple of chances that I had that should have gone in.
“I am fairly pleased with the team as a whole and on a personal note it has been a decent season.”
The season isn’t yet over of course. There is still the matter of a trip to London Road, where Vale will face a Peterborough outfit already guaranteed a play-off place.
“They have obviously got the play-offs in mind so hopefully they will rest a few players and we can get the points.
“At his stage of the season you always want to win anyway. It will be a tough game and we won’t know what they are going to do, but all we can do is look after ourselves.
“If I was a manager of a team already in the play-offs, I would probably want to rest a few because you don’t want to pick up any injuries.
“Then again they might want to carry on the good run that they are having, you never know, but it will be interesting to see what they will do.”
