BOSS KEEN TO PUSH ON

Boss Micky Adams is happy with the way things are going so far, but is keen to add new faces to the squad and push for the rest of the season and see where it takes us.

He has been pleased with the number of goals his side has been scoring – Vale are currently the top scorers in the country – and he certainly didn’t see that coming back in August.

He said: “We sat there at the beginning of the season wondering where the goals were going to come from.

“The wingers have obviously added a new dimension to us and obviously Tom Pope is in a rich vein of form.

“But what’s pleasing us is every time we have introduced somebody, a Dodds or a Williamson or whoever, they have managed to come up with the goods as well.

“Goals from all areas shows that we are a confident unit and when you have got confident players, anything can be achieved.

“Louis Dodds had got three goals in his last four games, but the thing about this squad is that it is just that, a squad and when you do make changes we are as just as strong.

“I think that we have got a good squad. It’s not the biggest, but everybody is more than capable of stepping in at any given time, which is very pleasing from a manager’s point of view.

“Indeed, on Saturday Joe Davis came in and did a fantastic job at centre half and that shows how strong we are.”
