FA YOUTH CUP

Vale youth face Everton at Vale park this evening and would welcome your support

Round of the FA Youth Cup.thTonight the Port Vale youth team are at home to Everton in the 4

It will be a tough test for the Vale youngsters against a side who we have met twice before in the competition.

In 2002/03 we won 1-0 in the Third Round at Goodison Park, whilst in 1982/83 we drew 0-0 at Everton at the same stage, only to lose the replay 1-0.

Mick Ede will be hoping to emulate the run the team had in the 2007/08 season when we reached the quarter finals, our best ever run in the competition, which we also achieved in 1966/67 and 1977/78.

Everton, presently under the guidance of former Irish international Kevin Sheedy, have won the competition three times, in 1965, 1984 and 1998.

So far the Vale lads have beaten Walsall (1-0), Bury (2-1) and Crystal Palace (2-0) to reach this stage.

Admission to tonight’s game at Vale Park costs £5 for adults and £2 concessions in either the Lorne Street Stand or the Hamil End and the lads will be grateful for as much support as possible.

If the scores are level after 90 minutes, there will be 30 minutes extra time and if still level then penalty kicks will decide the winners.

Round.thThe winners of tonight’s game will face Arsenal away in the 5
