Manager praises striker Tom Pope
Micky Adams has said that his npower League Two Manager of the Month Award is testament to the hard work of the people behind the scenes at Vale Park after he scooped the top prize for September.
Adams said: “This has been a very difficult time for everyone at Port Vale and this is a nice reward for everyone who has worked hard for the good of the club, both on and off the pitch.
“That includes my coaching staff, all of the administration staff and the people who don’t normally grab the headlines. It’s important that everyone recognises their contribution too. I also thank the supporters, who have been magnificent since the start of the campaign.
“We are not getting carried away by our start to the season because there is a long time between now and the end of the campaign. That said, I am pleased with some of our performances so far and we will be looking to take the positives from those into the next match and beyond.”
The Valiants' boss wasn’t the only one celebrating in Burslem, with striker Tom Pope picking up the Player of the Month accolade for the same period.
“I’m delighted for Tom and I think everyone can see that he has a renewed spark this season. He’s fitter than I’ve ever seen him, he’s hungry for goals and he looks confident every time he shoots. Long may that continue – I think he’s a very worthy winner.”
