Kick it out campaign - One game one community day!
Vale in the Community has chosen Saturday April 5th as the club’s official One Game One Community day of action. This season the theme on Equality is Women and Girls in football.
Port Vale are playing Walsall and supporters can expect to see a pre-match banner parade around the perimeter of the Vale Park pitch followed by a half time exhibition game of football featuring the successful Hamil Road FC ladies football team.
Port Vale squad players will be wearing the One Game One Community tee shirts when warming up and will be distributing them to the crowd.
In recent weeks leading up to the day of action a combined twenty two Secondary, Primary and Special Needs schools were invited to take part in a literacy competition. Students were asked to create a poem or statement about what equality means to them, the two best entries will be presented with a signed Vale shirt.
In previous seasons Vale in the Community has organised this event to raise awareness of deaf children in sport and adults experiencing mental health issues.
For many years, Kick it Out, the national campaign against racism, raised awareness of racism in society, but now the theme has become much broader and has a focus on equality for everyone.
Vale in the Community hopes to re-launch the club’s own campaign against racism, formerly known as Valiant’s Against Racism, under a new guise to meet with this new broader theme of equality.
If any supporter would like to become involved in the new club campaign against racism you should make contact with Vale in the Community on 01782 831983 and ask for Jim Cooper
