Last Saturday Port Vale FCWF hosted Stoke City Community FCWF at Dimensions.
Both teams fielded strong teams for the honour of winning the ‘WF Potteries Derby Trophy’.
Port Vale started the brighter of the two teams and almost went ahead in the opening minutes when they hit the post and then had a 20 yard shot which went just wide of the right hand post.
The game then became tight as Stoke got into their stride.
Midway through the game the Valiants took the lead with some smart passing and then a break down the right saw the right winger Roger Poole slot the ball to the right of the Stoke keeper from about 15 yards.
Stoke piled on the pressure in order to get an equaliser and had several chances but due to some good saves by Vale keeper Tim Kirby and some strong defending we held firm and saw out the game.
Final score Port Vale 1 Stoke City 0
