Michael Tonge is expecting a tough test this weekend when Port Vale travel to Forest Green Rovers in the Sky Bet League Two.
At one stage, these two were in a similar position around bottom of the league table. Now, after several impressive victories Vale have seen a dramatic climb up the table with FGR still struggling.
The 34-year old is expecting an even tougher test this weekend as they make their first ever trip to The New Lawn.
He said: “Personally, I think it will be a tougher game.
“It’s not easy to go up against the better teams but when you do play them, you go in as the underdog. Then, it’s up to them to bring the game to you and you can play on the counter attack.
“We’re going into a different type of game on Saturday where Forest Green are fighting to their lives as we are. It’ll be difficult.
“It’s a tight ground, it was a tough game at home. Anybody can beat anybody in League Two, it’s just all about consistency.
Tonge has recently been enjoying a new partnership with Antony Kay in midfield. The pair have impressed since their new structure as the midfielder says he is enjoying his football at Vale Park.
“I’m really enjoying it,” said Tonge
“I’ve been taking each game as they have come and just enjoying being out on the pitch.
“We’ve managed to pick up some good results, a lot of the lads have been performing well and I think as a team, it’s been showing in the last few weeks.”
