Gaffer looking for more of the same
Vale boss Micky Adams was pleased wit the way things went at Ilkeston last night and will be looking for more of the same against Stafford Rangers this evening.
He told the official website: “We stepped it up again and I thought it was a competitive game. I thought our movement and passing was excellent, particularly in the first half.
“We got a little bit sloppy in the second half, but that was only to be expected - as a fitness exercise it was ideal for us.
“There were a lot more tackles flying in the game and my goalkeeper had a couple of saves to make as well, so all in all, it was a step up from what we have faced so far.
“Chris Neal didn’t have to do anything spectacular, but he dealt with everything that he had to deal with.
“Defensively we looked sound and I thought the movement between Ben Williamson and Tadhg Purcell was excellent and really, we could have had more goals.
“We haven’t picked up any injuries and we look forward to the game against Stafford Rangers now.”
The gaffer promises to play the other ten fit professionals at Marston Road this evening and will make his mind up whether to include one of the youth team or to play one of the players who featured at Ilkeston to make up the eleven.
