St Margret’s Academy will represent Port Vale at the Football League’s Girl’s Cup six-a-side regional finals after winning the local competition run by the Club’s Foundation Trust.
The Girl’s Cup is for under-13s only and culminates in a grand final prior to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final at Wembley in March.
Last season nearly 800 schools took part with over 6,000 children participating in total, giving them an incredible experience and encouraging them to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
This year’s local competition was held at Dimensions Leisure Centre in Burslem and was delivered by Tom Sherratt, the Club’s Foundation Manager, and a number of volunteers.
Five teams took part but it was St Margret’s, pictured above, who emerged as winners after going unbeaten in all of their fixtures.
They will now take on the representatives of the likes of Burton Albion, Shrewsbury Town, Crewe Alexandra, Wolves, Northampton Town, Birmingham and Walsall in Shrewsbury.
Good luck girls!
