The Valiants halted a run of six consecutive Sky Bet League One defeats by picking up a point against Karl Robinson’s men at Vale Park on Saturday.

A late breakaway which culminated with a goalmouth scramble in the Dons’ penalty area could have seen Vale grab all three points, and deservedly so, but they were forced to settle for a stalemate.

Speaking to Valiant Player after the match, 40-year-old Page praised his players for their performance and was full of gratitude for the club’s supporters.

“I just said on the radio there that it’s been a frustrating time for all of us, the supporters included,” he said.

“They can’t do anything about it, they’re sat watching so it’s been a frustrating time for them but I’d like to thank them for their support today.

“I thought they were tremendous and to give the lads the appreciation they deserved at the end after the game was a great way to cap it off.

“We’re disappointed we haven’t had the win and we’re against the team that’s third best in our division, that scores at will and we’re disappointed.

“But I think the fans have seen that the level of performance now, we’ve maybe turned the corner.”
