Valiants Manager Emphasises to Squad How Much They've Improved

has revealed he has been showing his players footage of themselves recently as a reminder of how far they have come over the course of the season. Rob PagePort Vale boss 

 

The 40-year-old has guided the Valiants from relegation danger to potential play-off candidates and has installed newfound confidence in his squad.

 

Vale host high-flying Swindon Town this weekend and, while the manager expects his side to show the Robins respect, he thinks they can cause Mark Cooper’s men some serious trouble.

“I think, at certain stages of the season, they just need little reminders of why we’ve got where we have got and in a short space of time the improvement that I’ve seen,” he said.

 

“I think it’s important that they just get little reminders of that. Week-in, week-out we show them clips of the opposition, what they’re going to face, so that it’s no surprise for them on Saturday afternoon.

 

“But I think in recent weeks I’ve been showing them clips of what they have done to get us in the position that we’re in, two points off the play-offs.

 

“I think it’s encouraging, not only for the individuals to see but as a group, because sometimes you don’t appreciate what your teammates are doing, with and without the ball.

 

“I think it’s just little reminders like that give everyone a lift and I’m hoping it can help.”
