Rob Page: “I’ve Learned More In The Last Two Months”

Manager Reflects Over The 2014/15 Season

Port Vale manager Rob Page believes he has learnt more in the last two months of the season than all his time as manager of the club.

After securing Sky Bet League One status with Saturday’s 2-1 win over Yeovil, Page looked back over at the season and believes the disappointing run of results will benefit them going into next season.

Speaking to the assembled press, the manager said: “I think I’ve learned a hell of a lot more in the last two months than all of the time since I’ve taken over.

“Sometimes it’s quite easy not to reflect back on when you’ve had a win. You can get carried away with it, you keep the momentum going. It’s when you have a defeat that you sort of analyse it and obviously when you get six on the bounce its not easy.

“It’s trying to get that formula again to click something back into place to get a winning streak. I’ve learned a hell of a lot of myself, the coaching staff, the players, the supporters, everybody.

Page also commented on the tightness of the league this season, believing a run of results can catapult any side up the table.

“It’s been a strange league this year. We always knew that if you had a bad run, which we did at the end of the season, then you run the risk of being involved in a battle which rung true for us at the end.

And ahead of the final game of the campaign on Sunday against Fleetwood Town, Page is determined to finish the campaign on a good note.

“We want to finish on a high. It’s our last game of the season; hopefully we’ll get a good turnout from the supporters. We said after the Preston game, we want to take the momentum into the next two games and we want to finish with two wins.
